Tenebris Somnia: How Long to Beat?
Compare dated first-playthrough reports, extra-ending replay requirements and what a completion run adds.
Allow roughly six to eight hours for a first story run, with room for longer if you solve everything unaided or repeat difficult encounters. This is a planning range from two reviewers' reported experiences, not a large player average or an official runtime.
What the reports actually measure
| Source | Reported time | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Sam Chandler, Shacknews, October 15, 2026 | Approximately six hours | His review playthrough, including puzzle backtracking |
| Scott Ellison II, Saving Content, October 15, 2026 | Just over eight hours | His first arrival at the credits |
The reports describe different players and different routes. Their spread is useful for budgeting an evening, but averaging the two would not establish a representative mean. We have not timed a separate playthrough for this site.

One ending versus every ending
| Goal | What adds time |
|---|---|
| First story ending | Learning the layout, reading clues, puzzles and boss retries |
| Both main endings | Reloading the clean Aurifer save and completing the other branch |
| All four endings | New-game hidden routes and their early requirements, not just repeating the last boss |
| All achievements | Optional collectibles, restricted weapons and separate challenge attempts |
The ending route explains which branches share a save. The achievement checklist helps avoid repeating an entire run for an early missed interaction. There is not enough verified, comparable completion-time data here to publish a reliable all-achievement or all-four-ending average.
Why your run may take longer
Clues and some sequences depend on your save. A video player entering a known solution spends less time than a newcomer reading the room. Repeated travel between the apartment, theater and Film School also adds time; keep a note of the missing item before leaving a room. Boss deaths can require replaying a segment, depending on your saved position.
A longplay's duration includes its own pauses, cuts and route choices. It is not a measurement of how long every player takes, even when its title says Full Game.
Planning your sessions
As an editorial suggestion, two sessions of around three to four hours give more room than trying to finish in one short evening. Use a functioning in-game save before stopping. Keep separate slots around major transitions and the late ending branch; consuming a save point for the Silver Bottle changes where you can save later.
If you only want to sample the format, use the free demo guide. The six-to-eight-hour range above applies to the release story, not the demo. We do not substitute an old demo video's duration for a current average.
